Home made facial masks that really work

We all love our luxury skincare brands and we all have our favourites… But, in times of need and when you run out of essentials (or when you are maybe a little bit skint) you can always raid the kitchen! Take a look at some of our favourite home made face masks courtesy of mother nature, that are easy to make and give real results.

Banana Facial masks:

Bananas can be used as a natural, homemade mask that moisturises and leaves your skin looking fresh and plumped. Simply mash up a ripe banana, add a spoonful of honey (and if desired a small cup of natural yoghurt also works).. then apply to face and neck and leave for 15-20 minutes. The results are worth the effort.

Milk Face Masks:

To give yourself a DIY facial, look to a tin of condensed milk! After gently cleansing your face, make a mask by mixing a quarter cup of condensed milk with enough water to make a paste. Pop this mixture onto your face and neck and then leave to dry and set completly, then rinse with warm water. Voila, your skin is soft and rejuvenated.

Vinegar face masks:

Vinegar is a natural toner, and is very effective in giving the effect of a more taught complexion when applied directly to the face. To give your skin a more youthful glow, or to help get rid of pimples, just mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a quarter of a cup of water then gently apply the solution to your face and allow to dry. You can then follow with your usual moisturiser.

Oatmeal Face masks:

Not only is oatmeal a fantastic ingredient for a healthy diet, it can also be used on the skin for a quick pick me up. This recipe is one of our favourites to leave skin feeling smooth and fresh but also sounds good enough to eat!  Rustle up this winter skin saviour by combining half a cup of hot (not boiling) water and a third of a cup of oatmeal. After the mix has settled, mix in 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt, 2 tablespoons of good quality honey and 1 egg white. Apply a layer of the mask to your face and relax for 15 minutes, next rinse with luke warm water. Guaranteed soft skin, courtesy of this super winter rescue remedy.

We do hope you enjoy giving some of these a whirl at home, let us know how you get on and what you think of the results!
